STTk-007: "folklore of the faltesmik: part 1" by james sunderland.

james sunderland returns with his second release of 2019 and it's a sprawling, 3 digital 12" series titled folklore of the faltesmik.

folklore of the faltesmik, as the name suggests, deals with the folklore of the other-worldly, plant/humanoid species dubbed the faltesmik. having evolved beyond vocal communication, the entire faltesmik tribe can share stories through psychokinetic control of air pressure, allowing them to bend the wind into waves of sound for whatever purpose deemed necessary.

presented here is part one of three, covering some of the most basic and foundational folklore within faltesmik culture. "the animals awake" tells the story of the surrounding nature & flora rising with the sun and beginning their daily tasks, while "night chatter on the forest floor" describes the various stages of darkness that overcome the home forest while the faltesmik rest.

sonically, james sunderland has produced his most surreal and hypnotic tracks yet, melding the influence of robert hood-style minimal techno with layers of alien synthwork and off-kilter rhythms to create a truly inhuman sound. the songs naturally evolve throughout their extended lengths, flowing like the story arcs of the legendary tales they're modeled after.

as aforementioned, this is only part 1 of a 3 part digital 12" series, with parts 2 & 3 to follow.
