STTk-09: "folklore of the faltesmik: part 3" by james sunderland.

here we present the third & final part of the "folklore of the faltesmik" series, bringing the story of the plant-humanoid hybrids to a close.

after angering the holy spirits as documented in part 2, the leader of the faltesmik returns to their village to find it burned to the ground with only a handful of survivors. desperate to redeem themselves, they lead what's left of the tribe on a nomadic trek for a new home, braving extreme conditions & threats along the way. as you may be able to guess, this doesn't end well.

musically, sunderland has saved the most difficult for last, with the bulk of part 3 being taken up abstract, almost completely beatless excursions. they all have their own sonic signatures, with "anibus reigns in the hunt" possessing an anxious inertia while the opening track, "we move at dawn", plays with a more restrained melancholy, almost recalling Eno-style ambience. it all concludes with "the final faltesmik", a nine-minute journey that ends the faltesmik saga in grandiose, dissonant fashion.

with this release, james sunderland finishes a powerful project, each release pushing the boundaries of not only his own concept, but of the dance influences he refracts. we can't wait to see what he does next.
